Major Tom Wright, USMC

Major Wright is an officer in the United States Marine Corps, receiving his commission in 1984 following graduation from the University of West Florida in Pensacola.

Major Wright is a Naval Aviator with over 2,500 flight hours in the CH-46, VH-3 and VH-60 helicopters. He served with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit during a deployment aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Guadalcanal in the Mediterranean theater in 1989, and with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit during a deployment aboard the USS Inchon in the Mediterranean, and aboard the USS Whidbey Island during Joint Task Force operation “Sharp Edge” off the coast of Monrovia, Liberia in 1990.

Major Wright served as a Forward Air Controller with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 1992, and as White House Aircraft Commander and White House Liaison Officer for Marine Helicopter Squadron One in Quantico, VA from 1994-1998.

Following graduation from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California in 2000, Major Wright returned to Quantico where he served as the Deputy Director of the Marine Corps Distance Learning Center. His current assignment is with the Marine Corps College of Continuing Education (CCE), Training and Education Command in Quantico. He is a staff officer for the CCE Director, serving as a technical advisor and subject-matter expert on Advanced Distributed and Distance Learning issues, and is the Government Project Officer for the Marine Corps’ enterprise LMS and web-based E-Learning System known as “MarineNet”.

Major Wright is a 1994 graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare Resident School, and a 1999 graduate of the USMC Command and Staff College Non-Resident program.

He holds B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Computer Science, and he currently resides in Stafford, Virginia with his family.
