New Media Markets Manager

Willi Powell is the market manager for new media markets in Canada. Responsible for business development with key customers and partners. Willi has been helping companies make the transition to the digital age as painless as possible. To that end software tool development and new uses of technology are of prime interest. Now that QuickTime has been adopted by the ISO as the starting point for MPEG-4, the future of digital video, Willi has some exciting work to do.

Willi joined Apple Canada in 1989 following four years of engineering tools for the Interactive Video market working for Visual Database Systems in Scotts Valley California. During that time, he provided guidance to Apple Computer's highly successful HyperCard and Video projects, as well as working on several CD-ROM title including the renowned "Visual Almanac" project at the Apple Multimedia Lab in San Francisco.

Born in Montreal, Willi attended the University of Waterloo, Ontario where he participated in the co-operative education program and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Engineering.
